Salted Caramel Coffee Smoothie
This smoothie is a great breakfast treat or afternoon snack. It is quite sweet, but both sources of sweetness (bananas and dates) are whole foods that contain fiber which helps lessen the blood sugar spike (aka this smoothie is healthier than drinking a milkshake for multiple reasons even though it tastes like one!) The coffee and sweetness are a great pick-me-up! Feel free to add a little bit of nut butter to make this a bit more filling and balance out the sweetness a bit.
If you don’t have a high powered blender, you can soak your dates in warm water for at least 30 minutes prior to blending. To be honest, I enjoy little chunks of dates if not perfectly blended because they taste like little bits of caramel!
